SCA Awareness Month

October is Sudden Cardiac Awareness month!

Spread the word.. get the news out! October is your chance to talk to friends, family, neighbors, that guy you see in the coffee shop, that girl on the train... tell everyone you know that SCA is the most common cause of death in the USA and there are things you can do to PREVENT IT, PREPARE FOR IT and PROTECT FROM IT!

Learn more from the HCMA _ Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Association at:
http://www.4hcm.org/events/321143.html

www.stopcardiacarrest.org

Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is a leading cause of death in the USA, taking the lives of more than 295,000 people each year — more than breast cancer, lung cancer, stroke, and AIDS combined.

It occurs abruptly and without warning, and two-thirds of SCA deaths occur without any prior indications of heart disease.

But the truth is that SCA is not always a random event — yet even those in the medical community do not always have the tools to properly identify those at risk and prevent attacks.

Sudden Cardiac Awareness.

Thank you for posting Carolyn. I had never heard of this until my brother, age 53 was diagnosed last year. I know we have all heard of these young athletes just dropping dead when no one knew they were sick. This is the answer to what killed them.
The scary part when you have a family member diagnosed, the entire family needs to be checked... yes, it's hereditary.
I still have a lot to learn about it.
I encourage everyone to read all you can about it.
