Maintaining Your Balance in Older Age

by Sally Boon
(Los Angeles, California, USA)

Many of you believe that things will start going downhill when you age. You blame those aches and pains to old age.

Then, you do nothing about it simply because you believe that it is just something you have to accept. You start making excuses about not doing something because you fear that these could even make you feel worse.

The truth is, you regress because you’ve allowed yourself to. Yes, you may have been able to do more when you were young, but that is because your body is still able to heal itself faster despite the lifestyle that you lead.

When you age, your body just naturally stops producing some hormones that compensate for your lifestyle. This, however, does not mean that you immediately go downhill from there.

What you need to do is just be more watchful of what you eat and be more active with exercise to be able to maintain your health. The proof of this statement lies in the fact that there are several older people out there that are more active than the ones in the prime of their lives.

Now, you have to think why they are in much better shape. This is because they are more conscious about their health.

They try to make things right by giving their bodies all the nutrients it needs.

Once you reach mid thirties, your body begins a gradual decline of muscular and bone strength. Father Time is already knocking at the door.

Though you may not be able to really do much about stopping it, you still have control over the rate by which age takes over your body. You don’t have to give in, and if you really want to enjoy your life, you must do your part to keep your body healthy.

The older you get, the more responsibilities you will have. You can no longer live your life like a child.

You now have a family to take care of. While children can still enjoy a sedentary lifestyle, an older person needs to make their contribution to society.

Your body can adapt to your activity, but you also need to listen to what it’s trying to tell you. When you don’t do anything, you will feel your body growing weaker.

You have to do your part in making it think that it still needs to do more than just rest.

People are creatures of habit. You will naturally want to do things that you’ve grown used to simply because it is more comfortable for you.

Like anything in life, you need to go beyond what is expected to discover just how far you can reach. If you do not take a look at the reasons for all your aches and pains, you can simply put the blame on age, and not your lack of insight.

You need to find the balance so that you can also get used to the various activities you would want to do. Look at old age as a time to explore, to test out new waters.

When it comes to your abilities, it is simply a matter of practicing.

You can enjoy dynamic energy and good health for the whole of your life if you feed your body the best nutrition in the world.
