Exercise On The Go....if you spend a lot of time on the road it can sometimes be difficult to keep up with your exercise routine. If you don’t want to pay for gym access at every hotel you stop in you may want to consider a few of these simple tricks to make staying active during your travels a bit easier.
Get a cheap bike carrier for your vehicle and take your bike with you wherever you go. Having a rear bike rack on your car means that you can just park, unhitch your bike and get some exercise no matter where you are. Pretty much anywhere a car can go a bike can go as well. Whether it’s a mountain trail or an urban environment, you’ll always have a great source of cardio ready to go.
Get a series of resistance bands and an exercise ball that can be stored in your car. They night not be the strain of free weights but resistance bands added to some isometrics and cardio will make everything more effective. They store away easily and with a deflated exercise ball you are ready for most situations.
Take up yoga. It can be done pretty much anywhere so long as you are comfortable doing so. Keep a yoga mat in your car and memorize the movements. Yoga is a great exercise for maintenance and strength training. Once you learn the techniques and start self-practice, it’s free too.
Get yourself a membership to an international gym. They may not be in every city you stay in but with a little research and the right membership you can pretty much always go to a gym and stay fit. Obviously, for international travel this is a lot better than yoga mats or a bike carrier.
If you can I suggest using all of these tactics. A specialty bike rack takes up very little space and doubles as bike storage, the gym membership is really handy and having a yoga mat in your car is never a bad idea. With all of these on your list of options you’ll never be in need.
