Diabetes and Herbal Remedies

by Harriet Bond
(San Diego, California, USA)

There are several natural remedies that can help control blood sugar levels. Discuss with your doctor before trying these remedies.

Cinnamon

Adding 1/4 or 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon in food or drinks can help lower blood sugar levels. Cinnamon contains a substance that, used regularly, can be toxic to the liver.

Cinnamon taken in capsule form may be safer than the natural form, but whatever form you choose, pay attention to toxicity.

Apple Vinegar

Another quality of vinegar is to reduce blood sugar levels but can affect insulin levels. Discuss with your doctor before deciding to try this remedy. The researchers found that white bread eaten with vinegar can reduce blood sugar levels and provides a feeling of fullness for several hours.

Oolong Tea

Research shows that consumption of oolong tea with meals helps to reduce blood glucose levels. A quantity of 6 cups of tea a day can be very helpful in regulating blood sugar levels.

Stevia

Stevia satisfy cravings for carbohydrates or sugar, helps regulate blood sugar levels. This herb not only reduces blood sugar levels, but regulates blood pressure. Some people found their desire to eat drops of stevia tablets if taken 15-20 minutes before meals.

Get rid of stress!

If you are diabetic need to reduce stress levels. Today, to avoid stress is nearly impossible, but for diabetics is very important not to be stressed. Stress can increase blood sugar levels. One of the oldest and most effective ways of relaxing is listening to music.

Do not forget to exercise!

Sports is recommended for all, and if you're diabetic sport can be very helpful. Exercise program should include exercises to build muscle. They will help metabolize food and to control blood sugar levels.
