Correct Weight for Height?

by Amanda
(Aberdeen)

I'm trying to work out whether I'm overweight in medical or rather fitness terms. My height is 5'8" (5 feet 8 inches) and I weigh 154 pound or 11 stones. Some of the charts I've looked at seem to say this is fine - just, but I don't have a waist anymore only a fat bulging tummy.

This makes me really unhappy about how I look, but most of all concerned for my health. Can someone give me some advice please.

I would say try using Hip to waist ratio for a better idea.
BMI charts are very misleading, they do not take into account muscle weight.

Googling it, one of the first sites I found was this one :

With a mixture of the weather and Christmas, I too need to knuckle back down to exercise and a healthier eating plan.

I've decided to measure myself rather than just base any changes on my weight alone. I think I will treat myself to a hair cut once I can see some improvement, so I can see some light at the end of the tunnel.
