Can Smokers Benefit From Life Insurance Policies?

by Harriet Bond
(San Francisco, CA, USA)

Some believe that if you smoke you are unable to get life insurance. This, however, is not the case as those that smoke can still easily invest in life insurance; the only slight difference is that their premiums will be slightly higher than of others who do not smoke.

Higher premiums may scare some off but in actual fact a smoker's life insurance policy is still very affordable.

The best thing to do is talk to a professional about such an insurance policy. Endsleigh are a great company to look to if you are a little confused about the life insurance policies available.

Another question smokers may ask is "Are we still covered if we die from a smoke related illness?". The answer to this is quite simply yes, but only if the policy holder has declared themselves as a smoker in the first place. There will be no confusion if a claim does arise as long as the policyholder has been truthful from the start.

If you do manage to quit, most insurance companies will consider you as a non-smoker after a run of 12 months of not smoking. This will mean the rates will drop down to that of a non-smoker's rates. This only applies to some policies however. Make sure you check out all the small print prior to investing in any policy in order to determine the ins and outs of such an insurance policy.

Many people actual consider themselves not to need life insurance and therefore think it a waste of hard-earned money. However, before making this decision you should think about the effect your absence may have on your family if something were to happen. Budget life insurance is there as a precaution and is therefore a great investment.

Get a quote for life insurance smoker rates
by: Mitch Reynolds

Thanks for this article. It is easy to get a quote for life insurance premiums even if you are a smoker. The cost is higher than if you are a non-smoker, but often very manageable for term life insurance. We offer the easiest way to get an online life insurance quote in Canada.

Life Guard Insurance is Canada's best source for life and health insurance information online.

Thanks again for the good article on smokers getting life insurance.
